BARRY MOORE CAUTIOUSLY OPTIMISTIC ABOUT CORONAVIRUS RESPONSE, “SICK OF” SENATE DEMOCRATS “PLAYING POLITICS WHEN LIVES ARE AT STAKE”

Enterprise, AL–AL-2 Congressional candidate Barry Moore expressed cautious optimism about the national response to the coronavirus pandemic thus far.  Moore has been following global, national and regional reports closely as he looks forward to the July 14th runoff election.

Moore acknowledged that he has been receiving regular updates from the Executive Office of the President on the national response to the health crisis.

While supportive of the President’s efforts to mobilize the economy, he was critical of Senate Democrat’s actions in blocking the coronavirus relief bill on a vote of 49-46 vote Monday afternoon.  The bill needed 60 votes to advance.

Barry Moore said in a statement:

“We’re seeing definite signs of progress, and I’m cautiously optimistic at this point.  The President has been actively working with industry to produce the supplies we need. Because of his efforts, Hanes is retrofitting facilities to produce medical masks, and 3M and Honeywell are ramping up their N-95 mask production.  General Motors has agreed to help increase the production of ventilators, and after the President called Carnival Cruise Lines President Micky Arison, they agreed to provide cruise ships as emergency floating hospitals.

“President Trump reached out to Walmart, and they agreed to provide space in their parking lots for drive-through testing, and to Walgreens and Target to keep their stores open so we can have access to supplies.

“The President has also worked to support our Veterans by signing legislation that directs the Department of Veterans Affairs to continue providing the same benefits for veterans who have had to switch to online learning from in-person classes.

“Compare that to the Senate Democrats, where they blocked the coronavirus relief bill to try to get concessions for left-wing wishlist items like climate change.  It makes me sick that the Democrats are pushing their toxic progressive agenda by playing politics when people’s lives are at stake. I think the American people are just as sick of this as I am.”

“I look forward to serving District 2 in a Republican-controlled House, with a Republican majority Senate supporting President Trump in his second term.”

Moore’s campaign has already canceled all in-person events, following the White House’s social distancing recommendations.  The campaign is using social media and online outreach to spread its message while limiting the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Barry Moore is a small businessman, former Alabama Legislator and Veteran from Enterprise.  He and his wife Heather have four children.
